After my five weeks in Cusco my Australian (also Yanapay volunteer) friend, Casey and I took an overnight bus to the Bolivian border. From the border we took a beautiful 3 hour bus around Lake Titicaca (or Lake Boobypoopy as my 29 year old brother likes to call it) to the small lake-front town Copacabana.
We rested the night in Copacabana and left early the next morning for a four hour hike to a peninsula.
At the peninsula we met a colorfully toothless man, Hilario Paye, who was very proud to show us his name in Lonely Planet along with his hundreds of postcards from around the world. Hilario took us on his little dinghy across the lake to a small inlet where we sat and enjoyed the scenery.
Casey on the dinghy.
After the inlet we continued on across the lake to Isla Del Sol (Sun Island) where we said our goodbyes to Hilario. From there we hiked up the island for another hour and a half until we encountered what seemed like a present from God:
(I didn´t do the pouring)
After our beers we continued on our way until we arrived at the town. We found a hostal, ate some grub, and went to sleep. In the morning we woke in time to see an incredible sun rise over Lake Boobypoopy
